Five fabulous Christmas games for kids to help them celebrate the season with their family and friends.

Balloon Relay is a great team Christmas game for active kids. Each team needs a balloon (red and green are the traditional Christmas colours), as well as a chair and a ruler. The front player in each team uses the ruler to bat the balloon down the room, around their chair and back to the starting line before passing the ruler to the next player in their team. The first team to have all their players complete the balloon relay  wins the game.

Christmas Card Hunt is excellent for younger and older children who enjoy a hunt. You will need three or more old Christmas cards for each player, cut in half, with the top portions in a box and the lower parts spread around the room. Each player takes one card top from the box and then searches the room trying to find the matching half. When a child finds the matching section, they can choose another card top from the box until there are none left. At the end of the game, the winner is the child with the highest number of completed cards.

Happy Christmas is a non-active game. Children sit in a circle. A player starts the game by counting "One". The child to their left then counts "Two", then "Three"  and "Four". However, instead of "Five", the player must say "Happy Christmas!". The count continues from "Six" with every multiple of five (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, etc.) replaced by "Happy Christmas!" Any player who makes a mistake by counting the wrong number, forgetting to say "Happy Christmas!" or saying it at the wrong time, or saying "Merry Christmas!" instead is out of the game, until only one player is left (the winner).

Jingle Bells is a noisy, active Christmas game. Each child is given a blindfold, except one who holds a small bell. She should move around a given area ringing the bell and saying "Merry Christmas" while trying to avoid the other players. If another player catches her, they swap places. If you room is too small for everyone to participate at once, have four or five chasers and other children change places when someone is caught.

Ho Ho Ho is a noisy, fun game for any number of players. Player One lays on the floor. Player Two lies down at a right angle, with her head on Player One's stomach. Player Three lays in the same direction as Player One with his head on Player Two's stomach, and so on. When the pattern is complete, Player One says "Ho!" before Player Two says "Ho-Ho" and so on down the line. If anyone giggles, laughs or says the wrong number of Ho's", the whole group starts from the beginning. The game can also be played as a race between two (or more) teams.

These all sound like fun games - for adults, never mind the children!
